Business Studies is an increasingly popular subject, which is appropriate to practically every employment area. This course investigates business from varying perspectives, including employees, management and consumers. It is a subject which compliments the majority of other subject areas available in Westlands Sixth Form.

Business Studies at AS/A2 Level is a demanding and interesting academic subject which aims to provide students with the opportunity to investigate a number of business issues and areas. You will study local, national and international business and the strategies they use to move forward.

The course comprises of two modules each year, which incorporate the following topic areas:

Year 1

• Planning and financing a business
• Managing a business

Year 2

• Strategies for success
• The business environment and change

In addition to developing an understanding of the business world, students will gain skills in report and essay writing, problem solving and analytical investigation.

Students following this course have found it provides a useful insight into the complex world of business, and aids progression into both Further and Higher Education and a multitude of employment and career opportunities.

It is not a requirement of the course for you to have previous Business Studies or Business related subject knowledge.
