In this course you will study a range of physiological, sociological and psychological aspects of performance. You will develop the ability to appreciate relationships between theory and practice and to apply theoretical knowledge to develop understanding of planning, performing and evaluation training programmes and competitive performance.
During the AS year the following will be completed
Unit 1 – Acquiring, developing and evaluating practical skills in Physical Education

Unit 2 – Assessment – Candidates will be assessed in one of the following areas
- Performing two activities, evaluating and planning for the improvement of performance
- Performing an activity and coaching/leading another activity, together with evaluating and planning for the improvement of performance
Performing an activity and officiating another activity, together with evaluating and planning for the improvement of performance
Unit 3 – Principles and concepts across different areas of Physical Education.

It is assumed that students undertaking an AS/A Level in Physical Education will be performing practically in their chosen sport(s), extra curricular at school level, in addition to being part of an out of school sports club.
