BTEC First Diploma Engineering


A BTEC First Diploma in Engineering is a practical, work-related course. You learn from completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. The specialist units enable the learner to study particular areas in depth and there are opportunities to follow a clear career pathway into, Maintenance, Manufacturing or Electronic Engineering. A BTEC First Diploma is equivalent to four GCSE grades A* - C Grade and is normally taken as a full-time course.

There are NO exams. You complete regular written coursework assignments to fulfil the assessment criteria.

Pupils who have studied the BTEC First Certificate can add to their certificate to obtain the Diploma Certificate.

Summary
The course lasts for two year and consists of four compulsory core units and further four units. All eight units must be completed with a minimum of a pass in order to successfully complete the course. Each unit has a number of different coursework assignments, each with a set of grading criteria. All pass criteria must be met in order to pass the units.

Merits are awarded where a candidate has achieved all pass criteria, plus all of the merit criteria.

Distinctions are awarded where a candidate has achieved all Merit criteria, plus all of the Distinction criteria.
