The Music Technology AS / A2 Level course is now a discreet subject in its own right and allows students to study music through the use of technology. It is designed for musicians to focus their studies in the direction of ICT, in order to gain a contextual understanding of the impact of technology on a range of music.
In this course, you will study sequencing on a computer, multitrack recording, arranging and composing as well as listening and appraising a variety of musical stules and production techniques.
To embark upon this course, students should have had regular instrumental tuition on an instrument or voice, moderate keyboard facility and preferably an A-C pass at GCSE. The ability to read music notation is helpful.
The course recognises that we live in an age of cultural diversity and the areas of study cover a wide range of music: classical, popular and jazz, as well as computer generated music. It is designed to give the student creative opportunities to perform and compose using ICT as well as to study a wide range of musical styles.

The A level music Technology student will be prepared for advanced studies leading to a career in the music industry within a host of areas such as performing, composistion and arrangement, production, management, recording, publishing, publicity , media, theatre industry, radio television and film, technical support, music on the internet, music retailing, music education and music copyright.
