Sixth Form Prospectus
Media Studies

This is a challenging and interesting course that contains a good balance of practical and theoretical work. AVCE Media: Communication and Production is particularly useful if you wish to go into a media based career, say in journalism or marketing, or study Media at University.

At AS Level you will do three units of work, sitting two AS Level examinations throughout the year.

You will learn to analyse media products by looking at a variety of media forms, before focusing on film and broadcast fiction and British newspapers. The coursework unit at AS Level involves producing your own media product.

At A2 Level you will do three units of work, sitting two A2 Level examinations throughout the year.

At A2 Level you will study two media topics in detail and will use the Key Concepts of media studies to investigate or research an independent area of study.
