This is a new and exciting opportunity for 2009!
The BTEC National is a PRACTICAL work-related course. You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. You will develop the skills you need to start a career in media.
Whilst the BTEC National is a predominantly practical course, you will also explore theoretical concepts and examine the ways in which meaning is constructed in media texts.
ou will study two compulsory core units
- Research Techniques for Media Industries
- Pre-production techniques for Media Industries
A further four units, specialising in one area of the media will be selected. Examples from the list include:
- Film and Video Editing
- Music Video Production
- Advertisement Production for Television
- Understanding the Television and Film Industries
The course comprises six units in total over two years where the emphasis is on guided learning and portfolio work rather than assessment by examination.
The certificate is the equivalent of one A Level.
We are shortly to finalise the choice of units for 2009-2011, but from the selection on offer, you can be assured that the BTEC course will develop practical skills in the production of Video, Film and Television. You will also find out how Media Industries and organisations work and the job opportunities available to you in the future.
