Sixth Form Prospectus
History

History is a popular option choice at A Level. It is highly respected by Universities and is an excellent choice for those looking to continue on to Further Education, or looking to develop a career in Law, Politics or Journalism.

Our new course offers a wide and stimulating choice of content which is balanced and interesting and is a natural progression from GCSE History.

The periods studied are Nazi Germany, Ireland and Britain in the 19th Century.

History is an enjoyable course that builds on the skills learned at GCSE level. You will learn how the Nazis seized power in Germany and how they came to dominate Europe in a reign of fear. You will also look at the rise of Irish Nationalism from 1800 to 1821.

20% of the course is awarded through coursework allowing our students the opportunity to maximise their potential in a less formal manner and with the support and encouragement of their tutors.

You do not need to have studied History at GCSE level in order to take the course. All we ask is that you have good written skills and are motivated enough to be able to research and study as an individual.
